Say goodbye to the attendance machine

Mobile attendance

Every employee’s phone is now the time clock. No biometric hardware, no shared device queues — and no fake attendance, because Zaffre HRM verifies who is marking, where, and on which device.

The challenge

Traditional attendance machines are expensive, queue-bound and easy to game — buddy punching, proxy check-ins, and "I forgot to scan" gaps are everyday reality. Web-only check-ins are worse: anyone can mark present from anywhere. For HR, the result is payroll built on attendance nobody fully trusts.

The Zaffre solution

Zaffre HRM — the HR module of the Zaffre Axon suite — turns the device every employee already carries into a tamper-resistant attendance machine. Each check-in is verified on multiple independent signals at once: the right face, inside the allowed location, from an approved network and a registered device — so a present mark can only be created by the real employee, actually there. No hardware to buy, no machine to maintain, and no realistic way to fake it.

Mobile attendance in Zaffre HRM replaces the wall-mounted attendance machine with the phone in every employee’s pocket. There is nothing to procure, mount, or service, and no morning queue at a single device — everyone marks from their own handset in seconds.

The difference from ordinary "mark present" apps is verification. Zaffre HRM layers face recognition, geo-fencing, IP allow-lists, device binding and an optional check-in/out-only mode so that a present record is only ever created by the right person, in the right place, on the right device. Each of these guards can be turned on per company, site, team or role.

Because Zaffre HRM is part of the Zaffre Axon suite, every check-in is signed, time-stamped and written to an immutable audit log, then linked straight into attendance, leave and payroll on one connected data layer — so the hours you pay for are the hours that were genuinely worked. Fake attendance simply has nowhere to hide.

Built-in safeguards against fake attendance

Employee face recognition

A face descriptor enrolled once is matched on every check-in across mobile, web and desktop. The real employee is recognised instantly; a photo or stand-in is rejected. No fingerprint reader or biometric vendor required.

Geo-location restriction

Define a geo-fence per site, team or shift. Check-in is only accepted inside the allowed radius, so "marking present" from home or on the road is blocked unless you allow it.

Multiple IP restrictions

Whitelist one or many office / branch networks. Attendance from outside the approved IP ranges is refused — ideal for on-site roles and multi-branch companies.

Device (IMEI) binding

Bind an employee to their registered device. A check-in from an unknown phone is denied, so credentials shared with a colleague cannot be used to punch in.

Check-in / check-out-only restriction

Limit the app to the attendance action only for roles that should do nothing else — a focused, mark-and-go experience with no access to other data.

How it works

  1. 1

    Enable the guards you need

In Attendance settings, switch on face recognition, geo-fence, IP allow-list, device binding and/or check-in-only mode — globally or per site, team or role.

  2. 2

    Employee enrols once

The employee opens the Zaffre app, completes a quick face enrolment and registers their device. This takes about ten seconds and only happens the first time.

  3. 3

    Mark from the phone

At check-in the app captures the face and silently validates location, network and device against the rules you set. If everything passes, attendance is recorded instantly.

  4. 4

    Blocked attempts are logged

A wrong face, an out-of-fence location, an unknown network or an unregistered device blocks the mark and writes the attempt to the audit log for HR to review.

  5. 5

    Flows into payroll

Verified attendance updates leave balances and the next pay run automatically — no exports, no reconciliation, no trust gap.

Frequently asked questions

How does Zaffre HRM stop fake or proxy attendance?
Zaffre HRM (part of the Zaffre Axon suite) checks several independent signals on every mobile check-in — face recognition, geo-location, allowed IP ranges and the registered device (IMEI). Because all of them must pass together, a colleague cannot punch in for someone else and nobody can mark present from outside the allowed place or network.
Do we still need an attendance machine or biometric hardware?
No. Every employee’s own phone becomes the attendance machine. There is no fingerprint reader, no wall device and no per-device licensing to buy or maintain.
Can I restrict attendance to office locations or networks only?
Yes. You can set a geo-fence per site and whitelist one or more office IP ranges, so attendance is only accepted on-site and on approved networks. Both can be configured per team, shift or role.
What is the check-in / check-out-only restriction?
It limits the app for chosen roles to just the attendance action — the employee can mark in and out but cannot open any other module. It keeps frontline and shop-floor usage simple and focused.
How does device (IMEI) restriction work?
Each employee is bound to their registered device. A check-in attempt from any other phone is rejected, so shared logins can’t be used to mark attendance from a different handset.
Does mobile attendance connect to payroll?
Yes. Verified check-ins feed attendance, leave and the next pay run automatically on the Zaffre Axon connected data layer that powers Zaffre HRM — the hours you pay are the hours that were actually, verifiably worked.
