EOBI Registration and Deregistration: Keeping Enrollment in Sync with Headcount

Zaffre Tech · June 17, 2026

EOBI contributions only apply to registered employees, which means enrollment status, not headcount, drives the contribution register. When registration drifts out of sync with joining and exit dates, the register quietly becomes wrong.

The two events that matter

A new hire must be registered before contributions begin, and a leaver must be deregistered so contributions stop. If registration lags onboarding, you under-contribute; if deregistration lags an exit, you keep contributing for someone who has left. Both create reconciliation work later.

Tie enrollment to lifecycle events

The fix is to anchor EOBI status to the same joining and exit dates the rest of HR already uses, so enrollment is a by-product of onboarding and offboarding rather than a separate manual task.

  • Register new hires before their first contribution cycle.
  • Start contributions from the correct effective date.
  • Deregister leavers as part of offboarding.
  • Stop contributions cleanly on the exit date.
  • Reconcile the register to active enrolled headcount.

Zaffre HRM, the HR and payroll module of Zaffre Axon by Zaffre Tech, links EOBI enrollment to onboarding and exit, so contributions begin and end on the right dates without a separate checklist. The contribution register always reflects who is actually enrolled, which makes filing straightforward.
