Confirmation — sometimes called regularization — is when a probationary employee becomes permanent. It is one of the most significant moments in the employment relationship, yet it is often handled with a hurried email and an untracked status change. When the moment is poorly documented, the employee's entitlements, security and standing all become uncertain.

Confirmation deserves a workflow

A proper confirmation is a deliberate decision with a review, an approver, an effective date and a recorded outcome. It should answer clearly: was the employee confirmed, and from what date? What did their grade and entitlements become? Who signed off?
